1、 Strength characteristics of pure titanium wire (TA1/TA2)

1. Tensile strength: The tensile strength range of TA1/TA2 pure titanium wire is 240-550 MPa, depending on the purity and processing technology.

Low end value: ≥ 240 MPa.

High end value: 450-550 MPa.

Diameter effect: A decrease in diameter may increase strength due to cold work hardening, but being too thin can lead to increased brittleness.

2. Elongation rate: TA1 elongation rate ≥ 15%, TA2 slightly lower, but both better than titanium alloy.

2、 Strength characteristics of titanium alloy wire

1. Tensile strength: The strength of TC4 titanium alloy wire is significantly higher than that of pure titanium, reaching 900-1300 MPa, depending on the heat treatment process.

After solid solution strengthening: 1100 MPa (GR5 titanium alloy).

Timeliness processing: can exceed 1500 MPa.

Diameter influence: As the diameter increases, the strength may become more stable due to the improvement of cross-sectional uniformity, but defects caused by thermal stress should be avoided.

2. Strength advantage: TC4 has a specific strength of 23.5, far exceeding alloy steel and suitable for lightweight scenarios in aviation and automotive.

3、 The correlation between diameter and strength

1. Pure titanium wire

TA2 wire with a diameter of 1.0-3.0mm: strength increases with the degree of cold drawing, but elongation decreases.

Ultra fine wire: high processing difficulty, large strength fluctuations, and easy breakage.

2. Titanium alloy wire

TC4 wire: The tensile strength of wire with a diameter of 2.0mm is generally ≥ 1000MPa, and it has excellent fatigue performance.

4、 Selection suggestions

High flexibility requirement: Choose TA2 pure titanium wire, balancing strength and plasticity.

High load scenario: prioritize TC4 titanium alloy wire, such as aviation fasteners or hydrogen energy equipment.

Ultra fine wire application: requires customized process and verification of fatigue life.
